If you’re referring to this quest (NSFW), then yes it is indeed another quest by Weaver. However, this is not a blog for every quest that Weaver has ever done, if it were there surely would be more DiveQuest. This blog is dedicated solely to RubyQuest and its spiritual successor NanQuest.
Weaver himself confirmed that Jay and the white-eyed bird were indeed the same. The idea is that like Ruby and Tom, Jay was also mutating, but perhaps as a result of him being kept within that tank in the Cold Storage room, his manifested more as some kind of psychic ability. The black white-eyed bird was more or less an astral projection that he created in order to try and get help. The “its so dark” was referring to the the tank that he was imprisoned in.
However there are in fact two birds within Ruby Quest. Jay and Ace. Ace obviously isn’t much like a bird anymore, (as seen by his face of worms) but presumably he was before being corrupted. We also know for certain that Ace is the other bird because the Animal Crossing character that he’s based off of, in a similar fashion to the other characters, is also a bird with a spade on his shirt.
It was implied that before the strange happenings he was just a normal orderly who did work around the facility. However afterwards it seems that he became corrupt and possessed, essentially becoming a more or less direct puppet for whatever eldritch abomination that was dug up.
It’s possible that he was some kind of worshipper of the creature and that’s why he was chosen as its tool, but’s it equally likely that maybe he just was more simple minded and therefore easier to take control of. Or maybe he just had the unfortunate luck of his mutations progressing far enough that he was able to be taken over completely unlike the others (it’s possible that Ruby may have gotten to this point soon if they hadn’t escaped when they did as evidenced by the pain and yet almost addictive feeling she experienced when using her third eye).
But the truth is that we don’t know for certain why Ace ended up the way he did.
I honestly couldn’t say at the moment.
I’ll have to see how Nan Quest plays out first before I start comparing the two.
